GETTING STARTED
Review the text you share.
Prepare a prompt locally, copy it to the tool you choose, then restore known aliases in the reply.
Prepare text
- Paste text into Original text, or select webpage text and use the right-click item “Review selection in PasteGuard”. Loading a selection replaces the input draft only after you choose Load selection.
- Add custom rules for names, references, or other literal text you want to replace.
- Choose pattern detectors and click Scan text.
- Review suggested replacements. Uncheck any match you want to keep.
- Click Generate masked text, read the preview, and mark that you reviewed it.
- Click Copy masked text and paste it into your chosen tool yourself.
Editing the text, rules, or selected matches invalidates the copied-output workflow until you scan or generate again. PasteGuard does not submit prompts or intercept an AI site's send button.
Restore a reply
Open Restore reply and paste the answer. Click Restore known aliases. Only exact aliases from this session are restored, in one pass. Unknown or altered alias text remains unchanged and is listed for review. Unused aliases may be intentionally omitted by the reply. Review the restored output before copying; it contains the original details.
Keep the session until you finish
Scanned text and aliases live in browser memory. Closing a view preserves the scanned session; browser restart or extension reload/update/disable clears it. Unscanned edits exist only in the current view. Clear session deletes the mapping immediately. You cannot restore aliases afterwards, so finish your replies first.
Custom rules and profiles
Custom rules match literal text with word boundaries for letters and numbers; case matching is optional. Longest overlapping matches win. Save a profile to reuse detector preferences. Profiles use built-in labels and save only detector choices. Custom rules are never saved permanently in this beta. Loading a profile replaces the active detector choices and clears active custom rules; add the rules you need before scanning again. Delete profiles or all saved data from Settings.
Coverage and limits
Read detection coverage. Names, addresses, and revealing context can remain in the text. Ordinary HTTP/HTTPS pages are supported for selection import; protected browser pages and built-in PDF viewers are not. Cross-origin frame text can be imported explicitly through the right-click selection item.
Original text supports 100,000 characters; replies and restored output support 200,000 characters, each scan 500 matches, a session 100 literal rules and 2,000 alias values, and up to 10 saved profiles. The memory session has a 2 MB budget. If a limit is reached, finish restoring current replies and start a new session or split the text. Data is never silently truncated.
